Hey everyone Merry Christmas!
Thanks for the email and updates on everything this last week. I hope you all are so excited to have a great Christmas this week and everyone enjoy the break!
Respond: Sounds like a good week back home just survived the last few days of school but you're on break now so that is good. I'm glad you got home from California safely and had a good day with Austin for his birthday and it was so good to talk to him! What are the plans for Christmas eve and Christmas?? The browns and hart family traditions still going? But thanks for the update on sports and i hope the boys can get it going and whip up on Sugar and South but it sounds like it will be interesting for sure. But hey the girls are on fire and good for Kinley to be tearing it up! I'm glad USU football won the bowl game and had a good season and that's a bummer about Justin and his ankle, hopefully he can make it back soon!
Wow I can't believe it has been 2 years since grandpa passed away and that was really hard but its so true, and something we take for granted a lot, that we will live as a family FOREVER and it is so cool to share this message with others and do it with love like Elder Holland said. I've been doing a big study on charity and know everything Christ did was out of pure love, not because he wanted to impress his followers or please his father but he did it because he genuinely cares and loves each and every one of us.
My week: This week was a big come back from last week that's for sure. We had a lot of success finding new people to teach which in Benemerito can be hard to do. We ended up finding a family that is so so awesome! They are a big family who live together on this street so every time we go over we find someone new but they all came to our activity Saturday and a few came to church yesterday do we are super excited for them. Yesterday we had a lesson with them and tried to set a baptismal date and they are going to pray about it, but i bore my testimony (and got a little teary;) about my baptism and i remember clearly going into the water with dad and just knowing/feeling this was what Heavenly Father wants for me. I told them i want them to have the same joy and happiness forever so keep them in your prayers.
Tuesday - Thursday was when we spent a lot of time outside visiting members and finding. The lord blessed us like crazy with cool miracles. We found the family of Carlos Enrique and we are going to start teaching them so that is super awesome!
Friday and Saturday we did a lot of going to less Actives and inviting them to the Christmas party and we cleaned the church and also helped kill the pig for the food which was also fun and also a blast. Then the activity was so awesome and so many people were there! Also President Valencia from the mission Presidency came and it was so cool because he introduced everyone of our investigators Saturday and Sunday and invited the members to do something and get to know them! He also invited our 5 people that came to church to be baptized if they know its true and they all said yes so it was so awesome!! He is a stud and woke the branch up a little bit so now i believe we are going to work a lot better!
I want to leave you with a quote i read in another missionaries email last week that i loved. "He sees our weaknesses for the potential we have to become through them. We aren't defined by our weaknesses, but for who we have the potential to become because of them, the good, the bad, the peaceful, the seemily hopeless, the joyful, the frustrating, the heart breaking- through every experiences, especially the hard, I firmly believe God is inviting us to do something or to become something." I love this so much because it hasn't been the easiest here but I know I am growing into the person who Heavenly Father wants me to become and this Christmas time I hope we can all look at the trials in 2021 and look unto Christ to be healed and to know we are growing and becoming like him. I love you all and miss you. Merry Christmas!!
Love Elder Reiley
