Hey everyone!
Thanks for the email even though we talked on Christmas. It was so awesome to see everyone together having a good time. It was so good to talk to Grandma and Grandpa Reiley too! So ya I will explain more about the family but if you could pray for Yerli, Anely, and Sandra they want to get baptized but need to drop coffee so a lot of prayers for them would be awesome and it is the family Cerito. Thanks. It was a little difficult driving back to Benemerito because it didn't feel like Christmas but I just looked at what I was grateful for and looking back this was such an awesome Christmas I had! It really was a blessing from Heavenly Father.
Reply: What!? That is super exciting to hear about Reagan! She will do awesome and good for her for serving a mission! That is so good and thanks for the pictures of the Browns and some good ole ping pong never gets old! That is crazy that there is a big ole blizzard but also pretty nice you get to keep Jax and Alex for another time but hopefully they can get home safe and get back to work.
I love that quote from Elder Uchtdorf too. It reminds me that we really can't pay back what He did for us but the ONLY thing we can give is our agency and our heart. Then we look on the other side of this and realize that Jesus Christ didn't give money or time but He gave Himself and He is the best example so thanks for sharing that quote. I sure do love you all and hope you have a great new years!
MY WEEK: Christmas was super good that we talked about and this week was one of the best I have had in my mission so far. On Monday like I said we got up at 3 in the morning and traveled to Villahermosa for our interviews and it was so fun to be there with other missionaries and also to talk with President Whitworth and receive counsel from him and I know he is the keyholder for this mission because what he said was exactly what I needed to hear. Then in the evening is when we got the message from Yerli that she wanted to get baptized and with her 2 sisters too so we called them and they are so ready it was really awesome because they do have a lot of faith!
Then Tuesday we all stayed and the Secretaries apartment which was super fun then we got up early and got ready for our Christmas zone conference. It was so much fun to be with so many missionaries and members. We had a cool part where we all made an ornament about a Christlike Attribute and we put it on a tree. I chose Charity because it is something I need to work on but it was good. Then there was a big talent show and we ate and get this, I met Elder Keller who is Troy Miskin's nephew so small world. Then after we played a lot of games and just had a good time together. The conference ended super late so we ended up staying the night in the church but we got up and spent the whole day Wednesday traveling back to Palenque with elder Hulme and Elder Martinez.
Thursday and Friday were days of work but it was fun because I went with Elder Martinez and spent the day with him looking for less active members and teaching lessons and I learned so much from him. Then on Christmas Eve we had a big mission devotional which was so good, then some members brought us a dinner of ham and chicken so it was really good! Then Christmas morning we got up and opened some presents (and thank you for sending me presents, everyone it was awesome!) Then we got ready and went to the church and spent the day with the district and played sports for awhile then ate. After Elder Cabañas and I had to leave, we hopped in a jammed van and got to Benemerito in about 4 hours so I was glad that we got here safely! Sunday was super awesome too because the Cerito family, 6 of them came to church with us and also we pulled up and Carlos Enrique (ice-cream guy) came. The members did a great job of ministering to them. It was such a good week and I can't believe I have already been in Benemerito for a month.
The new year is always such an amazing time! We set goals and we have a bright future of hope ahead of us. I invite all of you to go on byuspeeches.org and listen to "Lot's Wife" by Jeffery R. Holland. It is really good and I know with this new year we can all grow closer to Jesus Christ by doing the little things, by growing everyday even if it is 1%. I love you all and hope you have the best week ever.
Love Elder Reiley
