January 23-29, 2022

Hey everyone! It has been a pretty decent week here in Benemerito. We had a lot of ups and downs like always but all in all it was amazing! Thanks for the updates about home and the family and it always makes my week to read about how everyone is doing.

Respond: That makes me really happy the boys and girls beat south and Jackson! That should get them some confidence so let me know how it goes against Sugar. I am also glad to hear Kinley had a good Senior night and got the win! Also good for Justin and the Aggies to get 2 wins in the conference but Colorado State is dominating right? Thanks for sending that package too mom and sending something for Elder Cabañas too, I am sure he'll love it and it will help us out a lot! But did you and Ash do anything else in IF? How is grandma Hart doing? Has she decided about the surgery yet?

Thanks for the update on the week mom and even if nothing too exciting happens it is good to hear about everyone and I am glad Aust could go with the Bish over to Jackson and catch some fish and I hope this week it goes well and everything is normal for you all!

Thanks for your spiritual thoughts. Especially about helping those kids. It may seem like there might be nothing you can do but just being ourselves, sharing the light, a smile, whatever it is, that is the hope that the gospel brings to show them we are happy even during difficult times.

Real quick examples that come to my mind about the gospel of Jesus Christ is 2nd Nephi 31 about all of them. Faith- obvious one is Nephi with the plates. Repentance- King Lamohni's change of heart. Baptism- could be mosiah 18 or 3rd nephi 11. Holy Ghost- 3rd nephi 27:20. Endure to the end- Alma the younger after he saw the angel, he never fell away.

My Week. This week was really interesting to be honest. On Monday we got to go to the Ancient Ruins and it was so cool! Then Tuesday we had our district council in Palenque and then after we ate then hopped in that little van and rode 4 hours to Benemerito and that night we helped cleaned the church with some members so it was good.

Wednesday we got up and Elder Cabañas wasn't feeling good so we called Hermana Whitworth and she told us to take it easy so we ended up visiting just a few people but then had to go back to the apartment and he rested and I did a lot of work on the phone so something I don't like to do but still good to learn and have patience. Thursday he was still sick but we had some good lessons. We met with the Cerritos and they are doing really good as always and we just had a pretty good lesson and just talking and invited the rest of the family to be baptized and they said yes... but not right now so we tried to resolve some concerns but I will tell more about them later. Then we went with a part member family and the wife is not a member. So we talked and they have so much faith and want to grow in the gospel so we set a baptismal date for Rosi for March 12. It is so cool to see the Lord blessing us and I was really grateful that Elder Cabañas gave so much of his energy and strength to work that day!

Then this weekend we had the opportunity to have President Whitworth and his councelor President Valencia so it was really cool to have them here but guess what, Friday night came and I got sick, I had a 102.5 temperature so I was not doing so good but Saturday morning I felt a little better and by the afternoon we were out working but nothing too crazy happened but the evening came and we went with President Whitworth and Valencia to the Cerritos so they could meet them and we had a good lesson about the blessings of the gospel and they all came to church on Sunday which was such a miracle and hasn't happened before.

Also Sunday after Sacrament President Valencia was talking with Maynor (the dad) Rosa(the mom) Maraceli, Jesus, and Esmeralda and he called us over and said that they all said they would be baptized on February 19 because they felt such a strong spirit during church. I have never seen something so crazy and powerful and I know that God is a God of Miracles, this is His work and He will accomplish it. It is just making the decision if we want to be a part of it. I just want to ask all of you to pray for them because we went over Sunday evening and they told us there are receiving some persecution from neighbors and work so any help would be appreciated.

That was my week so we started off slow but Sunday was an awesome day! Just to say a few things about Mexico and what life is like; basically everyday is something new I feel like. There are a lot of culture things I need to adjust to but its all ok. We get fed everyday from members and most of the food is normal (like chicken soup with a couple of feet in there like Uncle Doug's story, tacos, eggs, beans, and rice.) The weirdest thing I have eaten is Pancita or cow stomach but my favorite food is Mole!

To end this one off I read a really awesome scripture in Alma 34:38. I loved this verse when i read it because it reminded me to always have my heart open to the promptings of the Holy Ghost and to humble myself to know I can't do this work on my own and especially when it says "Live in thanksgiving daily" doesn't matter what happens but at the end of the day we have a choice to look for the things we are grateful for and the Lord will give us so many blessings.

Sorry I know this letter was kind of scattered but I love you all and I know Christ lives!
