Hey everyone! What a wild week. It was a roller coaster of good and bad but in the end is was one of the best I've had! Glad to hear the updates on everyone and glad it was a good week at home! And yes the Cerritos were baptized!!!!!! Big miracles.
Respond: First of all thank you for the prayers mom. Honestly they were the gamechanger to make everything happen this week. I know that Heavenly Father answered our prayers and that we did everything in His power to make it all go smoothly this weekend so thank you so much! Dang that stinking sugar but that is so awesome what Zarp did!!! Good for him to take a stab and I hope they can actually learn a lesson or two from this. I am glad to hear too that the snow plane rally is still up and running in Tetonia and that Ash got to ride in her first one! I bet it was super super cold but also fun! Also good for Dusty! That is kind of crazy and weird to think about but I am happy for him.
Thank you for your spiritual thought in the Book of Mormon. One thing I have always loved is even though we are studying the Old Testament this year, we are highly encouraged to make time for the Book of Mormon because it is the most perfect book. I honestly forgot about that talk so I will listen to that again this week but it is true and never in this life will we get to the point where we won't have anything to improve but it is being humble enough to ask in this specific time right now what can we improve and everytime we will be inspired on something!
MY WEEK: Like I said this was a really good week for us in Benemerito! Everyday this week brought us a new challenge and stress but that is how it is everytime but the Cerritos were so faithful and no matter what Satan tried they overcame it. It just brings me the most joy to see them progressing on this path!
Tuesday and Wednesday were pretty normal days but the church didn't have light or power or internet so it made it pretty hard to work and contact everyone. We did get through it but one thing on Tuesday is we were walking down this road and it was so muddy with one tiny path so I was leading and Elder Cabañas was following and a dog snuck up behind him and bit him right on the leg! It didn't break the skin thank goodness but shook him up a little bit. But we had a good lesson with the Cerritos that night about the interview and everything for the baptism so it was good.
Thursday was a pretty scary tough day. We got a message from Yerli Cerrito ( one of the sisters) that said they wanted us to come over sometime that day so we went over at about 4:30 and had a long talk with them. Their sister-in-law, who is from another church, told them a lot of things about our church how we don't believe god exists or we worship Joseph Smith so it was sad to see but we talked everything through and said a prayer together and they all felt a lot better. Even afterword the mom Rosa was saying that everything her daughter-in-law said wasn't right so it was cool to see the Spirit work on us all that night.
Friday was the day of the interview! So we live 4 hours away from our District leader right? So we planned on doing a video call with him after our Devotional at 11. Anyway we get to the church around 9 and the internet was down AGAIN!!! All of Benemerito didn't have internet so we didn't know what to do except wait. We said a prayer together and just pleaded that a miracle would happen and the internet would come back. Well we were on the phone with Elder Mcintyre and at 10:45 the internet came back! Such a miracle I am so thankful for Heavenly Father! We were able to watch the Devotional and also all the Cerritos passed their interviews so it was a good day!
I know this is getting long so sorry. But Saturday was the day of the baptism! We were both pretty nervous but we got everything ready and at 11 on the dot the Family Cerritos showed up and there were about 20 or 30 of them so it was so cool to see the family support and also the members came with their trucks and we all loaded up and went to the river! We had a little program and a nice message then did the ordinance. I had the opportunity to baptize Jardy and Sandra and Elder Cabañas did Anely and Yerli. Pretty nervous a big ole Crocodile would get me but everything went smooth and I was thinking of how cool and humbling it is that Heavenly Father lets us be a part of gathering His children and bringing them home. I will never forget this experience and now it is helping them stay forever faithful and also helping their family recognize the truth. I love this family and everyone here in Bene. Most days are hard but when I can be a part of this it makes it all worth it! Then on Sunday we had church and confirmed all of them and also I had the opportunity to give my first baby blessing so that was a first and took me a couple of tries in Spanish but we got it done! Such a good week and I am just grateful to be serving and I really know what true joy is!
To end on a spiritual thought I read 2nd 32:9 friday night and felt so much peace before the baptism. One part says, "pray in the name of Christ that he may consecrate thy performance." Prayer is so powerful and I was thinking with anything we do, if we have a prayer in our heart and mind Heavenly Father listens and He answers every single time. I love you all. Sorry it was a little long today but if you are still reading this, props to you! Have a good week!
