Hey everyone! This was really really awesome and so fast I can't believe it is Monday already but I am glad to hear also that it was a good normal week back home!
Reply: First of all congrats on surviving and getting to spring break! I hope it is a good week of relaxing and just having a good time at home! So glad to hear you got to go to the temple and be the house of the Lord. It has been a good 14 or 15 months since I was able to go to the temple so take advantage of it when we have one so close. I know it is the house of the Lord and we receive revelation when we are inside. I will be praying for Braxton and the whole Hess family with his surgery. I hope it all went well but that is super cool that Justin and the Aggies did the shirt for him!
Also thank you for all the messages in the week and the package for the Cerritos. Everything looks really good thanks mom! Also thanks for your spiritual thought on faith and how the Brother of Jared and all his family just loaded up and I am sure there were days of doubting or wondering if what they were doing was right but they let God prevail and it all worked it and saw the blessings in the end!
My Week: Perfect well this week was a really awesome week! We had a lot happen. We had some friends accept baptismal dates, come to church, and found quite a few new people to teach so the work is going really well!
We had a lot of cool miracles like I said, one was we were working with less actives (like I said before) and we found this family and started talking to them and asked if we could do anything and they wanted a prayer. So we went inside and started talking and turns out they have a son named Gustavo who is so smart and awesome and he wants to get baptized. The Lord blesses us always when we are trying to serve His children so we are hoping he can get baptized 23 of April.
Another cool lesson was with a referral from Facebook named Rubiceli. We went over there to her house and started talking and whoa.... the spirit was super strong because she was looking for help so we taught her about baptism and faith and she accepted to be baptized 16 of April. We are going to see about her because she didn't come to church yesterday but still such a huge miracle!
The most spiritual lesson I have had on my mission happened on Friday. We went to a part member family. Mayrena who is a member and Felix who is not. Felix really wanted to know if all this was true so he told us about this dream he had. Holy cow I can't describe the spirit that filled the room and I had goosebumps the whole time. I can't explain everything he said but I will say his dream/experience was really similar to Joseph Smith's. It was so cool to see him in tears say that he wants to have the light and peace that he felt in his life forever. It was amazing (don't worry mom I wrote it all in my journal) but it was a big testimony builder for me and I know the Lord has plans for him so be praying he can make it for the 16 of April too.
Those are all the highlights from this week. I love being with my companion Elder Rivas because he is funny but we work really well together. I can say my favorite food here in Mexico is Mole, and also Chicharon (fried pig skin.) The language is coming along a little at a time but the Lord helps me so much in the daily.
Just to close, to answer Uncle Matt's question that took out to me a lot in the group email I am in. He asked, "Do you have any ideas for escaping periods of disappointment and times when you feel inadequate?" Wow I was thinking hard on that last night and was trying to think how to answer and this morning I got my answer clear. The mission (as many of you know) is not easy and a lot of discouragement comes but one lesson I have learned is part of trusting in Heavenly Father but I just know the dark comes before the light ALWAYS. When those hard days or times or experiences come I know it is only for a little bit and heavenly Father blesses us when we push through faithfully. I know it is true because I have seen it in my own life. Sure hard days will come but looking for joy and just being happy has always helped me in those situations.
I love being a missionary and I love all of you! Hope you have a good week and I will be praying for all of you!
Love Elder Reiley
