Hey everyone! Thanks for the email and updates on everyone.
Yep yep for everyone who doesn't know I'm here in Mexico!! It has been a wild ride but I have seen so many miracles and blessings so thanks for your prayers.
REPLY: Sounds like it was a good week for you to go down to Logan and watch Justin play some ball is always fun! Hopefully they have a good season and can win some games! That will be way fun for you guys to head down there every once in awhile and watch some games and you can go with Rachelle! I'm glad your meeting went well and your getting a grasp on your purpose. Something I've learned here is during those meetings always Remember the gran plan. It's easy to get caught up in the problems or maybe there is so much to do but always remember that everything we do is out of love and we just want what's best for Heavenly Father's children.
Thanks for your spiritual thought too. I love President Nelson and his wisdom and everyday is a fight but it's good to know as long as we keep it up on the right side (3rd Nephi 13:24) we will receive the blessings!
I will do that video for grandma! Her birthday is the 7th so when should I have that done?
I am sending a picture of the 10 things I've learned today.
Christmas shopping: nice under amor golf pants (x2 grey and blue)
New digital camera (My other one broke in my suitcase)
Good backpack!
X2 and collar shirts short sleeve
Something for my companion (maybe an Idaho gift or something)
Stickers I can give to kids
Thanks so much mom! Love you tons.
MY WEEK:
First off thank you for all the prayers. I definitely have felt your love and the love of my Heavenly father this week. Monday wasn't too crazy. I flew to Denver and waited there for about 5 hours then hopped on a plane and got to México city! I went through immigration and everything went smooth so I wanted at the airport and met Elder Landrum and we both caught a flight to Villahermosa. We met President and Sister Whitworth and they are so nice I cant wait to work with them. We got home around 1 and went right to bed.
Tuesday was a good day too. We went to the mission office and had a little orientation and just helped around there till about 5. After I met my new companions Elder Ruiz from México City and Elder Hill from Sacramento and they are so awesome! We hoped on a couple of buses and it was about 5 hours to ride to our area but we got here and went right to work.
I love the people here, there are so humble. The people here really don't have a whole lot but are so willing to accept the gospel and learn and the members are so willing to help out. Wednesday was a great day and we had a lot of success thanks to the Lord. We basically find through referrals that we get from comeuntochrist.org and through members. Also a fun fact there is a river that goes right through our area and the only way to cross is going on Lanchas or small boats so I got to do that the first day which was way cool!
Thursday and Friday were kind of a mix of stuff that happened and it was so good. We met with some of our friends that we are teaching and most of them are really close to baptism so we are so excited about that. Covid is still a pretty big thing here so most lessons are videocall, on the phone, in their yard, and we are allowed to have one "in the house " lesson so a lot of phone work but we are really effective with it. Friday was the same thing and we went by some referrals and had a great day. We our friends Alex, Olga and Daniel accept to be baptized. The only reason is because the Lord has blessed us to find His children who are ready. We also found a part member family that we are going to start working with and help them come back to church.
Saturday and Sunday were a little different. We definitely faced some opposition from the adversary but hey the darkness always comes before the light. On Saturday we got some texts from our friends who were going to be baptized that they didn't want to anymore. Also none of our friends came to church but we did have 5 recent converts come which was really exciting. I was telling my companions that this is alright because we must be doing something right or Satan wouldn't be trying this hard. Like we've talked about before it's all about trusting in the Lord and understand He knows and His children will come home one way or another!
One lesson I have learned here is having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ is real. This is really the first time I have realized how much I have had to rely on Him this week. What a blessing it has been to serve in Washington and learn so much and come here and grow even closer to my Savior. On Friday I was reading in Alma 11 and came across verse 17 and it stood out to me a lot. I know that as long as I have patience and give my best, the Lord will bless me with success in the language and everything about missionary work and I know that promise is true.
I love you all and hope you have a fantastic week! I wish I could give you all the details but I really am loving it here and sorry this letter was a little longer but I will keep you updated on what happens. Thanks for being all so supportive! Be safe.
Love Elder Reiley!
